2022 Spring Fastpitch Softball

2022 Spring Softball
Parkway Little League proudly offers AA (Also referred to as Rookies or Coach Pitch), AAA (Also referred to as Minors) , and Majors Baseball Divisions for girls ages 7 - 12. 
 
For the Spring 2022 season, we will offer Junior/Seniors Softball for players ages 13 -16.
 
Our baseball season begins with tryouts in January for our Majors, AAA and AA divisions, and practice for all divisions beginning in February. Our game season officially launches on Opening Day, Saturday, March 19th for all divisions, and continues through the spring months leading up to Closing Day in June.
 
Upon registration, your child will be placed in the appropriate division as guided by Little League International Age Guidelines. Some children may be moved to higher or lower divisions based on skill level, as determined at tryouts or through contact with your Softball Division Player Agent.
 
The age ranges for each division are as follows:
 
 
AA (Also referred to as Rookies or Coach Pitch): Primarily consists of children ages 6, 7 and 8, although 9-year-olds new to the sport, or in need of additional skill development, may be accommodated by special request with permission of the League.
 
AAA: Primarily consists of children ages 9 and 10, although highly experienced 8-year olds and 11-year-olds new to the sport, or in need of additional skill development, may be accommodated by special request with permission of the League.
 
Majors: Primarily consists of children ages 11 and 12, although highly experienced 9-year olds and 10-year-olds possessing advanced skills may be accommodated by special request with permission of the League.
 
Juniors: Primarily consists of children ages 13, 14 15 and 16, although 12-year-olds possessing advanced skills may be accommodated by special request with permission of the League.
 
Tryouts: MANDATORY tryouts for AA, AAA, Majors divisions are held each year in January to determine a child's skill level and readiness. AA, AAA, Majors and Juniors divisions are formed primarily by age with skill also factoring in.

  • January 29th- February 5th 2022



AA Coach Pitch

Our Rookies division focuses on skill development and teamwork, and is the first level of Softball we offer to our community of girls when they are ready to make the transition from baseball, or are new to the sport. Players learn game basics such as the difference between force outs and tag outs. Children are given opportunities to try many different positions and learn that it is okay to make mistakes.
Rookies consists of children ages 7 and 8. Tryouts are held in January each year in order to assess each child's abilities to ensure evenly balanced teams. Teams are drafted by managers in early February and practices begin in February (weather permitting).
Rookies softball is played as follows:
  • Six inning games
  • 10 players in the field (four outfielders)
  • Coach-pitch
  • No leading or stealing
  • No bunting
  • Maximum of five runs per inning (except the last inning)
  • No standings are kept and there are no playoffs
  • Station-to-station (no extra bases on overthrows)
  • Children play in both the infield and outfield regularly

AAA Minors

Our Minors division continues the emphasis on skill development and teamwork, while also introducing more advanced baseball concepts such as stealing bases, advancing on overthrows, bunting, outfield relays, and pitching and catching.
The Minors division consists of children ages 9 and 10, along with some advanced 8 year olds. Tryouts are held in January each year to assess each child's abilities to ensure evenly balanced teams. Teams are drafted by managers in early February and practices begin in February (weather permitting).
Minors softball is played as follows:
  • Six inning games
  • Games are umpired
  • Games are against teams from other leagues
  • Nine players in the field
  • Players pitch
  • No leading
  • Stealing is permitted after a pitch crosses home plate
  • Bunting is permitted
  • Maximum of five runs per inning (except the last inning)
  • The team plays in the District 7 Tournament of Champions
  • Children play in both the infield and outfield regularly
